Account Security Password Reset

Your Futurium account security is closely tied to your EU Login credentials, which serve as the gateway to accessing the platform and other European Institution services.

Ensuring the security of your account is essential to protect your personal information and contributions.

This section provides guidance on resetting your password, handling a locked account, and responding to suspicious activity.

Resetting your password (via EU Login)

If you have forgotten your password or need to update it for security reasons, you can easily reset it through EU Login. Since Futurium uses EU Login for authentication, any password changes made there will automatically apply to your Futurium account.

Steps to reset your password

  1. Go to the EU Login “My Account” page in your browser.
  2. Navigate using your browser to My Account.
  3. Insert your email address if you are not currently authenticated and click on “next”.
  4. Click on “Lost your password?”
  5. Click on "get a password".
  6. You will receive a link by email. Note that the link has a limited validity.
  7. After clicking on the link, you will be prompted for your new EU Login password and to confirm your new EU Login password. Choose a strong password that meets EU Login’s requirements:
    • Minimum 12 characters.
    • Include a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
  8. Click on "Submit".

Return to Futurium website and log in using your updated EU Login credentials.

Suspicious activity (reporting unauthorised access)

If you suspect that someone has gained unauthorised access to your Futurium account, or if you notice any unusual activity such as  unknown posts, unexpected changes to your profile, it is important to act quickly to secure your account and prevent further misuse.

Steps to address suspicious activity

  1. Reset your password.
  2. Review your account activity.
  • Carefully review your account for any signs of unauthorised activity.
  • Look for unexpected changes to your name, bio, profile picture.
  • Review your posts and comments.
  • If you find suspicious content, inform the group managers or Futurium support team.
  • Report the incident to Futurium Support team.

Report unauthorised access

To help the Futurium team investigate and prevent further issues, report the unauthorised access as soon as possible.

  • Contact the Futurium Support Team via the Contact Form
  • Provide the following details in your report:
    • The date and time you first noticed the suspicious activity.
    • A description of what happened (e.g., unauthorised posts, profile changes, messages sent without your knowledge).

The Futurium team will investigate the incident and take appropriate action to secure your account and prevent future breaches.

Tips for maintaining account security

  • Use a strong password: Ensure your password is complex and unique to EU Login. Regularly update your password and avoid using the same password for multiple services. If available, enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) for your EU Login account to add an extra layer of security.
  • Monitor your account: Regularly check your profile, posts, and messages for any unusual activity.
  • Log out after use: Always log out of Futurium (and EU Login) when using shared or public devices.
