Closing a Group

Group Closing

This section explains how to close or withdraw a group on Futurium. It covers both situations where a request for a new group needs to be withdrawn before launch and cases where an existing group has become inactive and should be flagged to the Futurium team.

Group managers have an ongoing responsibility to monitor the relevance and activity of their groups and to inform the Futurium team promptly of any significant change affecting group management.

Process for withdrawing a group request

Requests for new groups are submitted through the Futurium contact form.

If a group request needs to be withdrawn, this can be done during the reassessment stage, before the group is launched.

Notifying the Futurium team of inactive groups

Group managers are formally responsible for informing the Futurium team, without undue delay, of any change affecting the management of their group. This includes situations where a group is no longer active or no longer needed.

What managers should do

  • Regularly monitor whether the group remains active and relevant

Community Managers can consult available statistics through the Group Administration Settings or, in the case of European Commission staff, through Europa Analytics. External managers do not currently have access to Europa Analytics.

  • Assess whether the group still serves its purpose

Consult relevant co-managers or other relevant stakeholders where appropriate.

  • Notify the Futurium team via the contact form if the group is no longer active or no longer required
  • Provide clear identifying information in the group closure request

Include the group name and a brief explanation of the inactivity or reason for closure, to support efficient processing.

  • Inform members where appropriate

And ensure that any important content is preserved for records on future reference before closure or deactivation is carried out.
