- Group Notification Settings
Community Managers can manage notifications for the editorial team and group members from the group administration settings.
Please note that members must opt in to receive notifications at user level. In line with European Commission rules, notifications cannot be enabled or enforced on behalf of users.
These settings fall into two categories: Editorial team notifications and Member notifications.
Editorial team notifications
You can define notifications for the editorial team to allow Editors, Moderators and Community Managers, to receive alerts about:
- Comment created (new comments)
- Group event created (new events)
- Group content updated (updated posts and pages)
- Group content created (new posts, new pages)
- Group membership request
Member notifications
You can enable notifications for group members.
Please note:
- By default, member notifications are turned off for all groups (frequency set to “Never”).
- Members can manage their own notifications preferences at any time in their profile, "My accounts" > "Notification settings". They can activate, deactivate or adjust how often they receive notifications.
- While it is not possible to enforce enabling notifications due to European Commission regulations, you can make a post in your group to recommend to your members to receive notifications. Please note that it will still be up to the members to decide if they want to enable this feature or not.
To configure group members notifications, you can use the following options:
- Member notifications: Tick the box to enable notifications to members. If the checkbox is left unticked, notifications will stay disabled for the group.
- Skip welcome message: Tick the box to prevent new members from receiving a welcome email. If the checkbox is left unticked, new members will receive a welcome email.
