This website is managed by DG CNECT (the Directorate‑General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology of the European Commission). It is designed to be used by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities.

Non-accessible content

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of the ‘Futurium’ website, we are aware of some limitations, which we are working to fix. Below is a description of known limitations and potential solutions. Please contact us if you encounter an issue not listed below.

Known limitations for the ‘Futurium’ website:

  1. Meaningless alternative texts (in code “alt” attribute) may appear due to core contributors' lack of accessibility knowledge.
  2. The HTML “lang” attribute will follow the language selected by the user, regardless of the machine translation tools that we plugged in to support the language accessibility for non-translated parts of the content.
  3. Interactive maps are not accessible to screen readers and keyboard users, nor is text alternative provided; they may not be of sufficient contrast or misbehave while zooming (overlapping) and may contain keyboard trap;
  4. Some audiovisual content may not be optimised, in particular:
    • Some images may miss meaningful description, conversely  purely decorative images may be made visible to screen readers; titles introducing videos may be not always meaningful too;
    • Some images may lack sufficient contrast;
    • Some pre-recorded videos may contain text information accompanied by musical soundtrack only, with no narration nor text transcript accompanying it;
  5. In some instances, keyboard navigation to select filters may not work properly, may collide with screen readers command and may present confusing information;
  6. some heading elements are not used consistently;
  7. some labels might not correctly relate to their corresponding form fields, not all of them were translated.
  8. some buttons and/or links don’t have readable text
  9. some documents are in PDF format and are not accessible
