Non-accessible content
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of the ‘Futurium’ website, we are aware of some limitations, which we are working to fix. Below is a description of known limitations and potential solutions. Please contact us if you encounter an issue not listed below.
Known limitations for the ‘Futurium’ website:
- Meaningless alternative texts (in code “alt” attribute) may appear due to core contributors' lack of accessibility knowledge.
- The HTML “lang” attribute will follow the language selected by the user, regardless of the machine translation tools that we plugged in to support the language accessibility for non-translated parts of the content.
- Interactive maps are not accessible to screen readers and keyboard users, nor is text alternative provided; they may not be of sufficient contrast or misbehave while zooming (overlapping) and may contain keyboard trap;
- Some audiovisual content may not be optimised, in particular:
- Some images may miss meaningful description, conversely purely decorative images may be made visible to screen readers; titles introducing videos may be not always meaningful too;
- Some images may lack sufficient contrast;
- Some pre-recorded videos may contain text information accompanied by musical soundtrack only, with no narration nor text transcript accompanying it;
- In some instances, keyboard navigation to select filters may not work properly, may collide with screen readers command and may present confusing information;
- some heading elements are not used consistently;
- some labels might not correctly relate to their corresponding form fields, not all of them were translated.
- some buttons and/or links don’t have readable text
- some documents are in PDF format and are not accessible
