Moderation actions are carried out in the group administration area “Content”. Here you can find the type of content that can be overseen in a group, it includes five areas: Overview, Posts, Events, Pages and Comments.
Content moderation and oversight responsibilities sit primarily with Moderators and Community Managers, while Editors can manage only their own content and cannot access group administration settings.
Content and comment moderation are managed separately. Depending on the settings enabled for each, content submissions and/or comments may need to be approved before publication.
Important
Content moderation can be defined and changed by Managers from the group administration options > Settings > Collections. They can define each collection with different moderation settings.
Also it can be decided who can view content (Anonymous, Outsider, Group member) and if Group members can create content.
If comment moderation is enabled:
- Comments submitted by Editors must be reviewed and approved by a Moderator or Community Manager.
- Comments are not publicly available until they have been approved.
If content moderation is enabled:
- New content (for example a post, article, event, or other item) is not published immediately.
- Instead, it is sent into a moderation workflow.
- A user with the appropriate moderator permissions (Moderators and Community Managers) must review and approve the content before it becomes visible to the public.
- Until it is approved, the content remains in an unpublished state.
- If the moderator rejects it, it stays unpublished and may need to be revised and resubmitted.
Moderators and Managers can:
- Access overviews of published and unpublished content.
- View full lists of posts, events, pages and comments.
- Edit, publish, unpublish or delete content.
Community Managers have the moderation capabilities as Moderators, plus wider configuration rights such as Navigation, Collections and Notification Settings.
Publishing and unpublishing workflows
Find some useful for explaining both self-publication and editorial oversight workflows.
- Editors publish their own content directly when saving, but cannot create drafts and cannot unpublish afterwards
- Moderators and Community Managers can create content as draft, publish it later, unpublish it, and also unpublish content created by other users.
Good practice workflows
A practical recommended workflow:
- Review unpublished comments regularly
- Monitor unpublished content to avoid backlog
- Check whether draft pages are ready before publication
- Remove or reject content that does not meet the group’s purpose or platform rules
- Coordinate with Moderators on who handles review, publication and follow-up
Draft pages and menu visibility
Specifically for pages, draft pages are not visible to regular group members. However, they remain accessible to the editorial team, including Editors, Moderators and Community Managers, for review before publication.
To make a page available within the group navigation menu, a Community manager must add it to the menu. A page can be anchored in the menu while still in draft status, allowing the editorial team to access and review it. Once the page has been finalised and published, it becomes visible to all group members.
Managing low-quality, non-compliant or inappropriate content
As a Moderator or Community Manager, you are responsible for making sure that all content in your group complies with Futurium’s community guidelines, applicable rules, and the purpose of the group.
When moderation is enabled, new comments added by members or Editors are not published immediately. Instead, they are placed in a moderation queue for review. During this process, you can:
- Approve and publish comments that comply with the rules.
- Reject comments that breach the rules or guidelines.
If content violates the applicable rules, appropriate action should be taken without undue delay. This may include:
- Removing non-compliant content.
- Requesting further review where needed.
- Possible account suspension in cases such as spam or fake accounts, security risks, or abusive behaviour.
You are expected to deal with moderation issues promptly and help maintain a respectful, relevant, and safe environment for your group.
For more detailed rules on acceptable behaviour and moderation, please consult the Use Policy. /use-policy
Member-generated content limits and operational considerations
To help you manage content flow and maintain a balanced, high-quality discussion space, Futurium applies daily posting limits to regular group members.
- Standard members can create up to 6 pieces of content per day and up to 6 comments per day in each group
- Moderators and Community Managers are not subject to these limits, so you can carry out your moderation and management tasks without restriction
These limits are designed to reduce spam and support constructive participation. When a user reaches the limit, Futurium displays a system message informing them that they cannot publish more content or comments for that day. This is handled automatically by the platform, so you do not need to take any action in normal circumstances.
If you notice repeated or suspicious attempts to get around these limits, you should treat this as a possible sign of misuse and monitor the situation accordingly.
Serious issues such as abusive behaviour, fake accounts or security concerns may lead to account suspension and may need escalation to the Futurium team .
