- Pages
Note that this feature may be restricted in some groups, depending on your role and the group settings.
Before creating a page, please review the “Use policy” section on the Futurium homepage.
Pages are useful for presenting static content, documentation, guidance, or other structured information that should remain easy to find and consult within a group.
This section explains how to create and publish pages in Futurium.
Who can create content?
Anonymous visitors cannot create pages, posts, or events on Futurium.
Only logged-in members of a group can interact with group content, and their available actions depend on the role and permissions assigned to them within that group.
Members without a specific role may be able to comment on posts, events, and pages, subject to the group’s settings, but they cannot create posts, events, or pages.
Members with roles such as Editor, Moderator or Community Manager, can create and manage group content according to the permissions granted in that group. As a result, pages can only be created by logged-in group members who have the necessary permissions, depending on the group’s configuration.
Recommended process to create a page
- Draft the page content first
Write or prepare the page content and save it as a draft. - Add the page to the group menu (Community Managers only)
From the group administration options, Managers can go to the "Navigation" tab, anchor the page to the group menu and choose its position there. - Draft pages are not visible to members without an editorial role
While the page is still in draft, regular group members who do not hold an editorial role (such as editor, moderator or manager), cannot see it. - Editorial team can still access it
You can share the page information with the editorial team, such as editors, moderators and managers. They will be able to view the page even if it has not yet been published. - Publish when ready
Once everything has been checked and is correct, you can publish the page.
How to create a page in a Futurium group
Please also note that Sensitive Non-Classified (SNC) documents must not be shared on Futurium. The platform explicitly prohibits uploading or distributing such material. Where secure handling is required, Community Managers should use alternative tools such as S-CIRCABC.
Follow the steps below to create a page in a Futurium group.
Steps to create a page
1. Log in to Futurium
- Click “Log in” at the top right of the Futurium website.
2. Navigate to the group
- Open the group where you want to create the page.
- Ensure you are a member of the group and that you have the appropriate permissions.
3. Open the page creation tool
- On the group’s main page, look for the “Group actions” menu, usually located near the top of the page. If you see only “Leave group” instead of “Group actions”, this may indicate that your role or the group’s settings restrict your ability to create posts, events or pages.
- Click "Add page".
4. Complete the page fields
Some fields are mandatory and marked with a red asterisk, such as Title and Content.
Title
Enter a clear and concise title for your page.
Content
Pages in Futurium are created using content blocks, which let you build structured and flexible content by combining different elements on the same page. Depending on your needs, you can add text, documents, images and videos, and arrange them in the order that best fits your content. This makes pages suitable for presenting information, guidance, resources, or other material in a clear and engaging way.
-
A text block is the main building element for page content. It can be used to write introductions, explanations, instructions, or any other written information. Futurium provides an editor with formatting tools such as bold, italic, underline, text alignment, indentation, paragraph and heading styles, hyperlinks, bulleted and numbered lists, removing formatting, and viewing the source code.
Additional text blocks can be added if you want to structure the page into several sections.
- A document block can be used to attach one or several files to a page, for example supporting resources, background documents, or downloadable material. If Public is selected, the document is accessible to anyone on the web; otherwise, it is only visible to users who already have access to the content. After creation, documents can be edited or removed.
- An image block is used to add visual elements to a page. When adding an image, you should provide alternative text for accessibility. You can also crop the image if needed and add a caption and link information. As with documents, an image can be marked as Public or kept visible only to users who have access to the page. Additional image blocks can be added to include more visuals throughout the page.
- A video block allows you to embed media hosted on supported external platforms. To add a video, enter the remote video URL. Supported sources are limited to YouTube, Vimeo, and the EC Audiovisual Portal. Once created, the video block can be edited or removed. This is useful for including presentations, recorded events, or other audiovisual material directly in the page.
Content blocks can be combined freely. For example, you may start with a text introduction, place an image underneath, add another text block with more detailed information, include a downloadable document, and finish with an embedded video. This flexibility allows you to adapt the layout to the purpose of the page and mix content types in the most effective order.
Supported file formats include:
- Documents: TXT, DOC, XLS, DOCX, XLSX, PDF, PPT, PPTX. Maximum size of 200 MB per file.
- Images: PNG, GIF, JPG, JPEG. Maximum size of 200 MB per image.
- Videos: Embedded links from platforms like YouTube, Vimeo, or the EC Audiovisual Portal.
For step-by-step guidance, please refer to the “Manage Content Blocks” section, where you will find detailed instructions on how to:
- Add content blocks such as Text, Documents, Images and Videos.
- Reorder content blocks.
- Collapse, edit or remove content blocks.

Publish checkbox (only available for Moderators and Community Managers)
Users with the appropriate permissions can decide whether to publish the page immediately or save it as a draft.
If you do not have the required permissions, this publishing option may not be shown to you, and your page will be published automatically when you save it.
Once you have completed the required fields, added any optional elements (images, documents, tags) and answered the antispam question, you can choose the publication status of your page.
Tip
Before publishing the page, a good practice is to:
- Create and save the page as draft.
- Place it in the group menu (by Community Managers).
- Share it with the editorial team for review, if needed.
- Publish it when it is ready.
The “Published” checkbox is ticked by default. This means that, unless you change it, the page will be published and become visible to the group when you click “Save”.
- Leave the “Published” box ticked to make the page visible to the group.
- Untick the “Published” box to save the page as a draft. Drafts are visible only to you, other Moderators and Community Managers. They can be edited and published later.
Note: After a page has been saved, you can later change its status to Published or Unpublished from My Account > My contributions.
More options
Under “More options”, you can find:
- Revision information: Displays the revision log message, if available. You can add a short note describing the changes you made.
5. Save
Click the “Save” button to save your page.
Page visibility after saving
After saving, what happens depends on your role in the group:
- Editors: Pages are published automatically when saved and become visible to the group members straight away. Group members can then read, comment on, and interact with the content.
- Moderators and Community Managers: before saving, they can decide whether to keep the page as a draft or publish it. If they save it as Published, the page becomes visible to the group members. If they leave it unpublished, it remains hidden until it is published later.
