The European Commission has proposed ambitious targets under the 2021 “Path to the Digital Decade” including that all European households should be covered by a Gigabit network and all populated areas covered by 5G by 2030. Achieving these goals will require EUR 200 billion of investments in new digital infrastructure.
The Commission wants to maximise investments in Europe by increasing the efficiency of public spending and leveraging and de-risking private capital. Some of the risk-absorbing measures and instruments that delivered results in the past and are still delivering results today are the digital infrastructure investment funds.
This CONNECT University session will be to occasion to explore the general characteristics of equity investment funds and dive into one case study from the European Commission practice.
