The Second Stakeholder Assembly and Debrief built upon input and stakeholder recommendations gathered from the first TTC Stakeholder Assembly in January 2023, other TTD-organised stakeholder meetings and the Joint Statement issued at the fourth EU-U.S. TTC ministerial meeting in May 2023 to collect stakeholder views and ideas on next steps for the TTC.
The first event of the Second Stakeholder Assembly and Debrief brought together representatives from the European Commission and stakeholders interested in key technology-related issues. A cross-section of TTC stakeholders from government, industry, academia and civil society engaged on pressing issues in transatlantic technology policy. After a Q&A session with the European Commission, participants could join one of two thematic clusters – on cooperation on emerging technology or on human rights and values in the digital environment – for a moderated debrief and exchange with other stakeholders.
The trade session of the second Stakeholder Assembly centred on enriching the work of the TTC in trade-related areas, with a particular spotlight on the Transatlantic Initiative on Sustainable Trade (TIST). After a brief presentation by European Commission representatives on recent ministerial meeting outcomes, stakeholders from the private sector, civil society, government and academia had the chance to enquire about the latest developments in the transatlantic trade agenda. The rest of the meeting focused on TIST, giving stakeholders the opportunity to exchange views and provide suggestions to operationalise the TIST work programme in view of fifth ministerial meeting that is to take place by end of 2023.
