The 2019 edition of the European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC) is guided by the motto 'Regions and Cities: Pillars of the EU's Future'.
The Urban Agenda for the EU and its thematic Partnerships will be present and are ready to share their progress with interested visitors.
- The Partnership on Climate Adaptation will organise a training for local policy-makers to raise their awareness of climate adaptation. Read more.
- The Partnership on Circular Economy has organised a session on developing a circular economy strategy in cities. ESPON EGTC will present and discuss the results of 2 projects aiming to support regions and cities in the transition to a circular economy. Read more.
- The Partnership on Culture/Cultural Heritage is planning something special: via a Participatory Lab, the hosts are going to illustrate and test six topics identified by the Partnership as possible cross-cutting Actions. Read more.
- The Partnership on Jobs & Skills in the Local Economy will showcase examples of multi-level governance and cooperation between different tiers of government to implement Principle 1 and 5 of the European Pillar of Social Rights. Read more.
- The Partnership on Public Procurement invites participants to discuss strategic procurement as an effective driver of change and growth. Read more.
- The Partnership on Security in Public Spaces is going to present its work and its first deliverable, the Orientation Paper. Read more.
- The Partnership on Sustainable Use of Land and Nature-Based Solutions will present its results and Actions tackling issues as nature-based solutions, land take, functional urban areas’ cooperation in the context of land use and urban sprawl, and brownfield development. Read more. A second workshop will propose an approach to develop targets and indicators for urban green infrastructure and nature-based solutions in cities. Read more.
The Urban Agenda for the EU as a whole, like last year, will be represented via a stand in the AGORA exhibition space (floor -2 in the SQUARE Convention Centre). There, you will have the opportunity to learn more about all Partnerships and ask any question about the Urban Agenda for the EU.
