Work with peers in EU funds implementation

The REGIO Peer-2-Peer Communities are networks of civil servants from regional and national administrations. They manage EU funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Cohesion fund and the Just Transition Fund, and join forces to share knowledge and practices to use the funds more effectively.

What are they for?

The aim of the Communities is to offer a space for practitioners across EU countries to meet, discuss and work together to resolve common issues linked to implementing EU regional and urban policy.

They are part of the wider REGIO Peer-2-Peer+, the peer-learning scheme of DG REGIO aimed to increase administrative and technical capacity of the programme authorities.

How do they work?

Activities include workshops, webinars and other types of online interactions. 

The Communities deal with fundamental aspects of implementing ERDF, Cohesion Fund and Just Transition Fund programmes. Discussion topics include:

• the administration of funds, such as public procurement, financial management, State aid, financial instruments or integrated territorial investments
• policy aspects like smart specialisation, transport or green recovery.

The Communities rely on members’ initiatives, with the support of dedicated community managers.  There is space for as many communities as there are issues of interest for practitioners.

How can I take part?

If you are a civil servant from an administration part of the ERDF, the Cohesion Fund or the Just Transition Fund (e.g. managing, certifying or audit authority, national coordinating and intermediate bodies, joint technical secretariats of European territorial cooperation programmes) you can either:

•  join an existing community, or
•  set up a new one.

In the Menu, select “Propose a Community”, then tell us about topics you would like to work on with your peers.

Communities need Champions!

In the Menu, select “Become a Champion” and let us know you would like to take an active role in a Community, helping the Community manager plan events and set meeting agendas.

In either case, the first step is to join and explore the existing communities and get in touch with your peers and the community managers to share new topics and ideas.
