The Digital Decade Communication proposes ambitious targets in the area of digital skills, digital infrastructures, digital business and digital public services to empower people and businesses to seize a human-centred, sustainable and more prosperous future in a digitally sovereign Europe. This can only be achieved through close cooperation and coordination between the Commission, Member States, and public and private stakeholders. To facilitate joint commitments at EU and national level, the Digital Compass policy programme sets up a robust governance structure with a comprehensive monitoring mechanism, annual reporting, and inclusive follow-up.
