The Clean Industrial Deal is here - but what does it mean for SMEs?

On 26 February 2025, the European Commission unveiled its anticipated Clean Industrial Deal providing concrete actions to situate decarbonisation as a driver of growth for Europe's industries. The deal provides measures to boost every stage of production, focusing on the energy-intensive industries and the cleantech sector.

Main elements of the Clean Industrial Deal

  • Lowering energy bills for industries, businesses and households, while promoting the transition to a low-carbon economy.
  • Boosting demand for clean products
Financing the clean transition (mobilising over €100 billion to support EU-made clean manufacturing)
  • Integrating circularity in the decarbonisation strategy to make the most of the EU’s limited resources.
  • Acting on a global scale including through Clean Trade and Investment Partnerships.
  • Upskilling in areas including skills in clean technologies, digitalisation, and entrepreneurship.
