The Urban Agenda for the EU has been running for a while, and it continues to be further developed. Four new Partnerships have been agreed during the Directors-General Meeting on Urban Matters (DGUM) on 4 April 2017 in Malta and will be launched soon.

These four so-called Malta Partnerships on Public Procurement, Sustainable Use of Land and Nature-based Solutions, Energy Transition, and Climate Adaptation will join forces with the other eight Partnerships to provide better regulation, better funding and better knowledge to citizens living in European cities and regions.

They conclude a process initiated with the Pact of Amsterdam in May 2016 with the four Pilot Partnerships (Inclusion of Migrants and Refugees, Air Quality, Urban Poverty, and Housing). Four more Partnerships (Jobs and Skills in the Local Economy, Circular Economy, Digital Transition and Urban Mobility), were established during the Slovak Presidency of the EU in early 2017.
