Worldwide healthcare systems have recently been subjected to a major and complex challenging, when confronted with the recent Covid-19 pandemic.
Since exceptional emergency situations exist, a more coordinated approach in cross border healthcare is justified. Hence, the European Commission has formally expressed its committment to take resolute action to reinforce public health sectors in the European Union and to mobilise all means at disposal to help Member States to coordinate their national responses and effective efforts to contain the spread of the virus.
Following this, we are more than pleased to inform that the European Commission has today adopted guidelines on EU Emergency Assistance in Cross-Border Cooperation in Healthcare related to the COVID-19 crisis.
This communication goes in line with the creation of a common European response , established by our President von der Leyen to coordinate the European efforts to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic.
This represent European solidarity in action! This is European solidarity at its best!
