Although multilingualism is becoming increasingly important in the tri-border region Austria-Hungary-Slovakia, the high demand for kindergarten and primary school attendance across the borders can still not be met. Unfortunately, there is currently no legal frame granting cross-border kindergarten and primary school attendance.

The purpose of the project “Bilingualism in the Functional Tri-Border Region AT-HU-SK” was to analyse the legal frames and to identify the legal and administrative obstacles in close cooperation with stakeholders of respective regions.

On the 10th of October 2019, the results of the analysis and the elaborated recommendations were presented to the participating stakeholders and responsible authorities within the framework of a project closing event. These project results serve as a basis for future measures to overcome the abovementioned challenges and obstacles.
