The Gérontopôle of Nouvelle-Aquitaine : the creation of an entire regional ecosystem dedicated to active and healthy ageing

The word ’gérontopôle’ does not exist in English but represents, in its essence, the entire regional ecosystem supporting healthy, active and autonomous ageing. Created very recently and financed essentially by the Regional Council of Nouvelle-Aquitaine and the Regional Health Agency, the Gérontopôle is a unique tool aiming at working with the quadruple helix in order to : identify the evolution of expectations and future needs related to ageing, support interdisciplinairy research and encourage innovation, identify, evaluate and share innovations and pratices, federate and cross views and approaches among stakeholders (TRL9). The Gérontopôle stands as a major player in the creation of added-value to better meet the challenge of ageing. Thanks to its living lab approach (labellised ENOLL), it works in an co-creative process for each innovative project which is supported through a user-driven process. Even, the process of creation of the Gérontopôle Nouvelle-Aquitaine was made in a co-creative way involving the quadruple helix stakeholders of the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine in order to create a structure adapted to their real needs.
