FLASHGuard team wins HealthtechLisboa Prize following Youth Start-Up Competition victory

Less than a month after winning the Youth Start-Up Competition (YSC) 2025 at the SME Assembly in Copenhagen, the Gonçalo Ribeiro's startup FLASHGuard is celebrating another major achievement. The project has now been awarded the HealthtechLisboa Prize, further recognising its potential to deliver real-world impact in healthcare innovation.

Last month, Gonçalo took to the SME Assembly stage, where his pitch captured the jury and audience alike, securing the YSC title. FLASHGuard provides a solution for the real-time monitoring of high-intensity radiation pulses, a core requirement for FLASH radiotherapy. By adapting detection and instrumentation techniques from particle physics, the project demonstrates how science-driven entrepreneurship can translate cutting-edge research into practical healthcare solutions.
