Access to expert insights on the Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP) at the SME Assembly

The Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP) is a landmark initiative from the European Commission's DG BUDG, designed to enhance EU competitiveness across three key sectors: digital/deep tech, cleantech, and biotech. STEP directs funds towards these critical sectors to boost industrial and business development and empower SMEs to scale and compete globally through strategic funding channels.

At the SME Assembly 2024 in Budapest, Caroline Vandierendonck, Head of Taskforce for STEP in DG BUDG, and Benoit Esmanne, key policy assistant for STEP, will delve into how the initiative supports SMEs' growth through targeted investment strategies achieving the EU's key policy priorities during a dedicated 'Meet the Expert' session.

Their presentation will clarify STEP's approach, which rather than establishing a new programme, reallocates budget funds from eleven EU programmes to encourage technological advancements, support the scaling up of businesses, and bolster the EU's international competitiveness.

Participants can attend the "Meet the Expert: Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP)" session on 19 November from 10:30 to 11:30 CET and from 16:30 to 17:00 CET in Budapest (Hungary) or online.
