During the almost three years of its existence, the Urban Agenda for the EU Partnership on Urban Poverty, coordinated by France and Belgium, has been having truly fruitful exchanges. This is most clearly marked by the Action Plan presented in January 2018 (read it here). 

But the work does not stop with the finalisation of the Action Plan. To ensure a lasting impact beyond the formal Partnership duration, the Partnership met on 5 June in Paris to discuss the actions’ implementation and plans for 2018 and beyond. 

The action leaders reported on updates on "their" actions, which each correspond to one of the clusters:

• Transversal actions 
• Child poverty
• Regeneration of deprived urban areas and neighbourhoods
• Homelessness
• Vulnerability of Roma people

The following months will see a number of activities aiming to support action implementation. Examples are the FEANTSA annual conference in Berlin with thematic workshops for cities organised in cooperation with URBACT (14-15 June 2018) and a series of URBACT Policy Labs on fighting local deprivation and testing the action on the Local Pact (July and autumn 2018).

The partners also spent time discussing the European Commission’s proposal for a new Common Provisions Regulation on several European funds. This discussion will surely continue as the general multi-annual EU budget and particularly the (structural) funds regime will form an important implementation condition – for the Urban Poverty Partnership as well as all other Partnerships currently established within the framework of the Urban Agenda for the EU.
