EURegionsWeek 2019, b-solutions presented at the workshop "Completing the toolbox to overcome legal obstacles in cross-border regions", organised by DG REGIO

The Association of the European Border Regions is very glad to inform that will be present at the workshop “Completing the toolbox to overcome legal obstacles in cross-border regions” organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy(DG REGIO) in occasion of the 2019 edition of the EURegionsWeek

The aim of the workshop is to discuss about new ways of overcoming legal and administrative border obstacles hindering the cooperation in cross-border regions within the European Union.

Following the European Commission’s Communication COM(2017) 534 “Boosting growth and cohesion in EU border regions”, in fact, much emphasis has been put on the need for finding new tools to solve these hurdles.

During the workshop, two initiatives going in this direction will be presented:

  • theMechanism to Overcome Legal and Administrative Obstacles in a Cross-Border Context (ECBM) COM(2018)373, a proposal by the EU Commission for a Regulation that would create the necessary legal framework for solving many of these obstacles;
  •  the initiative b-solutions, that the Association of the European Border Regions (AEBR) is managing on behalf of DG REGIO and that allows pilot projects and advice cases to address specific legal and administrative obstacles.

The Association of the European Border Regions (AEBR) will enrich the debate with the experience gained while implementing b-solutions and will present some of the specific cases selected under the initiative and the possible solutions that they are exploring.

In case you wish to participate, please, register as soon as possible on the EURegionsWeek’s webpage. The code of the workshop is:09WS542
