"People, passion, sharing": Serbia's EEPA 2024 winner reflects on the awards

At the finale of the European Enterprise Awards in Budapest, six entries out of a record-breaking 442 were recognised for their inspiring efforts to celebrate and encourage entrepreneurship across Europe.

Amongst the winners, the OsnaŽene project was celebrated for its impact on women-owned businesses in Serbia and beyond, winning the category "Supporting the Digital Transition". Connecting over 1,500 female entrepreneurs across 9 countries, it offers a digital platform to support start-ups, increase turnover, and boost female entrepreneurs' confidence. Following the SME Assembly 2024 in Budapest, Dr Indira Popadic took time to reflect on the initiative's monumental achievement.

What was it like to win an EEPA prize? Can you describe the feeling and what it means for you and your project?

Winning the EEPA award was one of the most beautiful moments of my life and a tremendous recognition for all the effort, work, and vision that my colleagues and I have invested in OsnaŽene. This recognition confirms the importance of our mission – empowering women through digitalization, education, and networking. Winning first place among Europe’s best projects proves that we are on the right path, not only for women entrepreneurs in Serbia but also across the entire region. This award gives us the momentum and extra motivation to continue with even more energy and dedication.

Why should others consider participating in EEPA 2025? What advice would you give to other enterprise and entrepreneurship promoters?

Participating in the EEPA competition is an opportunity to showcase your work at the highest level, exchange experiences, and learn best practices from across Europe. My advice is to be authentic, passionate, and clearly present the social impact of your project. The award is not just recognition – it opens doors to new collaborations, partnerships, and opportunities for growth and development.

Can you describe what EEPA means to you in three words.

People, passion, sharing.
