Adopted on December 5, 2022 at the third TTC Ministerial, the EU-U.S. TTC Joint Roadmap for Trustworthy AI and Risk Management aims to advance shared terminologies and taxonomies, and inform approaches to AI risk management and trustworthy AI on both sides of the Atlantic.
The roadmap suggests activities which are intended to be compatible with the respective regulatory, policy, and legislative initiatives of the two sides, noting that the active engagement and participation of stakeholders throughout the whole AI community (including industry, academia, and civil society) is key to fulfil its objectives.
Aimed at aligning EU and U.S. risk-based approaches in the TTC, these concrete activities include: 1) shared terminologies and taxonomies; 2) leadership and cooperation in international technical standards development activities and analysis and collection of tools for trustworthy AI and risk management; and 3) monitoring and measuring existing and emerging AI risks.
In this joint stakeholder event, the EU and U.S. will explain and guide stakeholders through the Joint Roadmap, outline next steps for EU-U.S. cooperation and provide participants with the opportunity to partake in a Q&A session with EU and U.S. experts involved in this policy stream.
This session aims to provide information on the contents and progress of the AI Roadmap and its working groups. Stakeholders will have the opportunity to share their comments and contributions with TTC WG1 – AI workstream through a dedicated call for inputs, to be published prior to the event.

Thank you for sharing. I consider vital the effort to reach a common understanding among western world countries to define the "guard rails" for a wealthy AI development for good suggesting and setting a Bill of rights. Everything is linked to the common recognition of Human Rights declared in the past. However, this is not the case, in fact, everywhere in the world and we risk a dichotomy in the use of AI depending on the values the leaders are exercising more in their societies. An additional concept I would highlight is that the 'Human-centric" approach proposed should be refocused on a Globe-centric strategy. The environmental issues are so critical that AI development should be exploited for a wealthy Globe ecosystem and all the beings around and not just the human ones.
