Consultation on brain drain in the EU now open

As multiple Member States of the European Union are facing a decline in population due to low reproduction rates and emigration, the European Commission is trying to understand the related problem of ‘brain drain’ – the emigration of high-skilled workers. Therefore, the 2022 Commission work programme included plans to analyse the causes and consequences of brain drain and formulate possible solutions.

To assist the Commission in its initiative, a public consultation has been launched. Naturally, cross-border stakeholders are also encouraged to fill out the consultation, as the perspectives of border regions are crucial to this issue.

The call for consultation will be open until 21 June 2022.
