Meet the speakers of the 18th Beyond Borders Breakfast Debate: Ana Paula Laborinho 

We're thrilled to have Ana Paula Laborinho join us as a speaker for the 18th Beyond Borders Breakfast Debate. Ana Paula serves as the Director General for Multilingualism and the Promotion of Portuguese and Spanish Languages, as well as the Director of OEI Portugal. 

With a Ph.D. in Literary Studies from the University of Lisbon (FLUL), Ana Paula has been a faculty member at FLUL since 1983. Highlights of her career include approximately 14 years in Macau, where she held roles such as Director at the Cultural Institute of Macau and President of the Portuguese Institute of the Orient. 

Ana Paula's leadership extends to her roles as President of the Camões Institute from 2010 to 2012 and President of the Camões Institute for Cooperation and Language from 2012 to 2017. Her work on promoting Portuguese language and culture externally and developing international cooperation policies has been invaluable.  

As the first director in Portugal of the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science, and Culture (OEI), Ana Paula has made significant contributions since November 1, 2020. She also serves as the Director General for Multilingualism and Promotion of Portuguese and Spanish Languages at OEI.
