Practice Exchange

It is hard to ask specific questions when one does not even know how to approach EDC implementation from square one. Where should an institution begin? Would a small innovative pilot be the key to a good start, or is it the decision-makers’ initial buy-in that makes or breaks success? Early adopters are warmly invited to share their experience and guide their novice peers through the initial steps, obstacles and lessons of the EDC adoption journey.

Is there a 'how-to' guide for an organisation to adopt EDC. Thanks!

Is there a way to represent all the European standard elements for Micro-credentials (Annex 1) compliant with ELM within the Open Badge Standard?

Dear Franziska,

Please consult my reply to your comment on this post, there I listed references to useful resources concerning ELM mapping to Annex 1.

With regards to Open Badge compliance, there are mapping and conversion initiatives between the OB and ELM standards that you might find insightful, some of these will be discussed at the 1EdTech conference later this week during this workshop. Please bear with us, we will come back to you with reflections on the workshop outcomes in a few days time. In the meantime, if you have any other questions, please let us know.

Dear Franziska,

To get back to the question about OB compliance, you can find the slides from the 1EdTech workshop here. Please feel free to leave any follow-up questions in a comment under this related post, so we can have a transparent conversation available to the whole community.

Hi,

Tomorrow, the DocTalent4EU project is organizing the Workshop: How to Issue Digital Credentials – Insights from the DocTalent4EU Project

https://doctalent4eu.eu/2024/09/17/workshop-how-to-issue-digital-credentials-insights-from-the-doctalent4eu-project/

We will share our experience on how to issue EDC.

In Spring 2025 we will publish a Good Practices Guidelines from our project's experience.

Answering your question "Would a small innovative pilot be the key to a good start, or is it the decision-makers’ initial buy-in that makes or breaks success?"

A pilot is a good starting point, but without decision-makers support, it is hard to achieve success. Our main struggle has not been on the technical aspects of EDC issuing but on convincing the administration to support the pilots.

Cheers
