Introducing the second confirmed speaker for the next Beyond Borders Debate Breakfast, Marlies Peeters. Marlies brings a wealth of experience and in-depth knowledge of cross-border cooperation to our event, making her an invaluable contributor to the discussion. 

Currently serving as Programme Manager in the unit responsible for Interreg, Cross-border Cooperation and Internal Borders in the European Commission's DG REGIO, Marlies plays a key role in shaping and implementing policies that promote collaboration and development across European borders.  

Before taking up her current role, Marlies was Programme Manager for the Netherlands at DG REGIO. Her extensive experience in Cohesion Policy – especially in the context of Interreg – spans several regions, including her work in Flanders before joining the European Commission in 2013. Marlies' experience in managing and promoting regional cooperation initiatives has contributed significantly to the advancement of cross-border projects and programmes funded by the European Union.
