On Thursday, 20 February 2025, the Border Focal Point Network hosted the 22nd Beyond Borders Breakfast Debate on the topic of Cross-Border Energy Communities. The debate presented the main findings of the ‘Handbook on Cross-border Energy Communities’, developed for DG REGIO. It also highlighted the role and potential of Cross-Border Energy Communities in contributing to clean energy transition and in strengthening the role of citizens and local communities in producing and consuming their own energy, but also brought to light challenges and obstacles in the development and implementation of cross-border energy projects.
