The objectives of the Partnership are to contribute to the reduction of poverty and to improve the inclusion of people in poverty or at risk of poverty in particular in deprived neighbourhoods. Urban poverty requires solutions that need to be designed and applied to integrated approaches:
- Place-based solutions: urban regeneration of deprived neighbourhoods;
- People-based solutions: socio-economic integration of specific population groups (focus on children).
The Partnership agreed at its meeting in Paris in January 2017 to focus on four priority areas and two transversal areas, which will inform the Action Plan. The four priority areas, each having a dedicated working group, are:
- Child poverty;
- Regeneration of deprived neighbourhoods;
- Homelessness;
- Vulnerability of Roma people.
The two transversal priorities dealt with in all working groups are: Access to quality services and welfare and Data for identifying, measuring, monitoring and evaluating urban poverty.
A draft Action Plan related to the above priority areas was subject to a Public Feedback in summer 2017. The final Action Plan of the Partnership was published in January 2018 and can be downloaded in the Library section.
