Aside from pilot support, the Support service for Citizen-led renovation will be providing guidelines and supporting material in order to foster citizen-led renovation across Europe.
The LIGHTHOUSE AND FOLLOWERS BOARD has a main goal to help create a network of on-the-ground initiatives and ensure that the guidance and materials provided by the Support service are representative of all European initiatives and widely applicable. The board consists of lighthouses and follower communities.
LIGHTHOUSES are communities that are already advanced in the offering of a service of renovation support as part of or in cooperation with an energy community. Examples of lighthouses can be:
- those that tested several approaches as part of an EU funded project or
- an operational one-stop shop service or
- large-scale multi-stakeholder energy efficiency project .
FOLLOWER COMMUNITIES are defined as other energy communities, municipalities or alike that are interested in or want to start with the concept of citizen-led renovation.
The Lighthouses & Followers Board of the Support service for Citizen-led renovation will kick off its work on 2 February 2023. The members will meet every two months from February 2024 to November 2024. They'll dive into what's happening in these communities and the Support service, plus as we have two in-person meetings planned – one in Belgium and one in Portugal – our members can get to know our local pilots.

As we gear up for the upcoming meetings scheduled every two months from February 2024 to November 2024, we're excited about the rich discussions ahead! However, we've noticed a gap in our plans regarding the Greek section, particularly in relation to the Lighthouses & Followers Board of the Support service for Citizen-led renovation.
While we have two in-person meetings lined up in Belgium and Portugal, it's imperative that we also shine a spotlight on Greece, given its significance in community initiatives. We believe Greece holds immense potential for innovative projects and valuable insights that could greatly benefit our collective goals.
Therefore, we kindly request our members to share any suggestions, ideas, or initiatives pertaining to the Greek section, especially regarding the Support service for Citizen-led renovation. Your contributions will not only enrich our discussions but also ensure that Greece is well-represented in our endeavors.
Let's work together to make our meetings inclusive, insightful, and impactful for all members, including our Greek counterparts. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and inputs!
