On 16-17 October 2019, the Portuguese city of Leiria hosted the Urbsecurity - Planning safer cities kick-off meeting. The meeting gathered all project partners and lead expert Pedro Soutinho for the first time.

The Urbsecurity project is co-financed by the URBACT Programme and several members of the Security in Public Spaces Partnership, Romagna Faentina and the cities of Madrid and Mechelen.
