In the context of the European Week of Regions and Cities 2020, a workshop on "Cohesion Policy rebuilding EU solidarity" will be held online on the 12 October 2020 from 16:30 to 18:00am.

Cohesion Policy funds are once again proving vital in unprecedented times of crisis. The EU Commission proposed changes to the rules to make the use of the funds more flexible and less bureaucratic - Member States should be given the opportunity to shift between different funds, and transfer money between richer and poorer regions.

This session aims to explain what Cohesion Policy is and the recent changes introduced by the EU Commission, as well as the different funds and mechanisms at the disposal of Member States. It will also look at the Multiannual Financial Framework, the future of EU Cohesion Policy beyond 2020 and many other European initiatives which aim to support territories with geographic challenges, the urban agenda for the EU or the recently presented Just Transition Fund.

This is a core session of the young elected politicians (YEPs) programme.
