-

The German Association for Housing, Urban and Spatial Development and the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community are organizing a web series called “Europe’s Cities Fit for Future”: five online sessions spread over three days during the German Eu Council Presidency.

Session 1 : Kick Off - Future-Proof Cities & Regions – What a new Leipzig Charter wants to contribute - 3 September 2020 (9h45-12h00)

Session 2, 3, 4 : Translate it into Action - Just, Green & Productive – Front runner-Cities and their approaches - 9 September 2020 (9h45-18h15 - 3x2h15)

Session 5 : Set the right framework - What EU Policies are Needed – 18 September 2020 (9h45-12h30)

As the COVID-19 pandemic turned most local development strategies upside down in a drastic way, 2020 still holds the opportunity to influence an important strategic course in the field of European urban development policy and thereby to react immediate and resolute to the painful experienced shortcomings. The regulations governing the EU Structural Funds for the next seven years will be approved. Further, the adoption of the NEW LEIPZIG CHARTER is foreseen end of 2020. Together with you, we want to discuss the following questions in our European web series:

• What can the New Leipzig Charter and the EU cohesion policy contribute to resilient cities and regions fit for future?

• What are the approaches of JUST, GREEN and PRODUCTIVE front-runner cities and regions?
