This book was originally written in 2007 in order to support the European Commission in the process of adopting the directive on patient rights in cross-border health care. It was published in 2011.

The study analyses cross-border health care policies in the European Union under a set of criteria such as access, patient's rights, collaboration, datas. It is a global analysis of the background of cross-border health care in the European Union that is intended to contribute to the cooperation analysis in this area, in the scope of the directive but also after - in the transposition and implementation process of the directive in the member states.
