This case study presents the 831A cross-border bus service between Zittau (Germany) and Bogatynia (Poland). 

It explores the business model of this service, including its governance arrangements, operational provisions to develop the service and address demand, and its territorial scope. The case study presents the key obstacles to the service and discusses solutions to these barriers before reflecting upon the lessons learnt from the case study. 

What this particular case study demonstrates is the importance of a pragmatic approach to problems associated with cross-border transport. It also shows that mutual trust and the will to create a cross-border offer are decisive in overcoming obstacles.
