Welcome to the Working Group 8 - Investment Screening!

This Community is part of the larger EU-US Trade and Technology Council Community on Futurium, which is a virtual space for businesses, public authorities, innovators, researchers, civil society, and policymakers to shape the EU and US discussions in the Trade and Technology Council together.

The Trade and Technology Council was set up at the June 2021 EU-US summit and serves as a forum for the European Union and the United States to coordinate approaches to key global trade, economic, and technology issues and to deepen transatlantic trade and economic relations based on shared democratic values.

The Investment Screening working group intends to focus on exchanging information on investment trends impacting security, including strategic trends with respect to industries concerned, origin of investments, and types of transactions. It further intends to focus on best practices, including with respect to risk analysis and the systems for risk mitigation measures with a focus on sensitive technologies and related sensitive data, which may include personal data. Together with other working groups, focus will also be on developing a holistic view of the policy tools addressing risks related to specific sensitive technologies. The working group is expected to conduct a joint virtual outreach event for stakeholders.

On the EU side, this working group is led by the Director for Enforcement, Market Access, SMEs, Legal Affairs, Technology and Security in DG TRADE.
