Annual report on intra-EU labour mobility - 2024 edition

This annual report presents updated insights into the labour mobility developments in EU and EFTA countries using data for 2022 and 2023. The analysis encompasses the mobility of all working-age EU citizens (aged 20-64). It delves into the movement and characteristics of the mobile population in the EU and EFTA, expands on the labour market participation and integration of EU movers, looks at the social conditions of movers in the EU and examines the mobility of EU citizens in the healthcare sector.

In terms of cross-border workers, the report suggests that their number (1.8 million) increased by 3% in 2023 over 2022 and that the biggest number (around 26%) resided in France, with Germany and Poland following. Top destination countries are Germany and Switzerland, which highlights the importance of cross-bordrer workers in EFTA countries.
