Cross-border train travel in the Benelux region: insights from workshop

On 24 June 2025, the Benelux Union and ITEM/Maastricht University hosted a workshop in Brussels focused on improving cross-border train travel within the Benelux region. Bringing together transport experts, policymakers and stakeholders from Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, the event addressed the persistent challenges of making international rail journeys as smooth and customer-friendly as domestic ones.

The final report from the workshop, now available, presents practical recommendations and key insights aimed at simplifying and enhancing cross-border train travel.
