We are excited to announce the third speaker for the upcoming Beyond Borders Breakfast Debate is Birgit Snoeren, Policy Officer, DG European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO), European Commission. Scheduled for the 15th February 2024, this session will focus on enhancing disaster resilience and crisis management in EU border regions. It complements DG REGIO's latest efforts, specifically addressing the vital report: 'Strengthening the Resilience of EU Border Regions.' 

Birgit Snoeren is a Policy Officer in DG European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO), Birgit works on resilience and disaster risk management, including the Union disaster resilience goals - adopted by the Commission in February 2023. Before joining DG ECHO, Birgit worked in several Commission departments and policy files (including environmental protection, coastal risk management, product safety, consumer protection, e-commerce and customs risk management).
