New b-solutions case selected

Numerous former cross-border workers who receive Dutch occupational pensions and reside in Germany face differing treatment in how their pensions are classified. Under German regulations, occupational pensions are considered differently from statutory pensions, which in certain cases results in significantly higher health insurance contributions. This unequal treatment poses both a financial burden and legal uncertainty for the pensioners concerned. Addressing this obstacle would contribute to a more fair treatment for individuals receiving retirement benefits from both countries.

This case, which has been submitted under the b-solutions 3.0 initiative by the Euregio Rhein-Maas-Nord, is now being analysed by ITEM - Institute for Transnational and Euregional cross-border cooperation and Mobility, with the aim of identifying viable legal pathways to resolve this obstacle.
