EIP on AHA: MAFEIP

MAFEIP

MAFEIP is a web-based tool with the purpose of estimating the health and economic outcomes of a large variety of social and technological innovations. From the EIP on AHA perspective, MAFEIP represented the key instrument to estimate the impact of EIP on AHA interventions.

The MAFEIP website (https://www.mafeip.eu/) contains lots of additional information about the MAFEIP tool including specific use cases and supporting materials. A MAFEIP user manual (by OpenEvidence and Empirica) and a Blueprint Guide on MAFEIP can be downloaded from the attachments bellow.

Overall activities

MAFEIP enables early impact assessments of an innovative process in the health and care sector. Using this tool can help decision-makers to take informed decisions about the future design of this innovative process or about its deployment on a larger scale (this is the “decision to invest”).

MAFEIP can also help, at a later stage of the innovation development, to precisely assess its value for citizens and other stakeholders (this is the “decision to buy”).

The potential users of the MAFEIP tool are stakeholders in the health and care sectors who are willing to deploy innovative practices to improve quality of care, enhance accessibility or make more efficient use of resources.

MAFEIP has already been used to develop new use cases, such as the cost-effectiveness analysis performed for many projects, as can be seen in Digital Health Europe’s website: MAFEIP – DigitalHealthEurope

IN-4-AHA has hosted a webinar on the “importance of Impact assessment and innovation in AHA: what are we missing?”, where the MAFEIP tool was presented, among others, as an asset in this effort. The recording of the session is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWXaG6yfX68 .
