Following the kick-off in September 2017 in Gdańsk, the Energy Transition Partnership is making great advances. The second and third Partnership meetings (6-7 December 2017 in Tilburg, Netherlands, and 14 February 2018 in London) were all about further developing the Orientation Paper to create a draft Action Plan.
The Tilburg meeting allowed for an in-depth discussion on the Orientation Paper and how its contents need to be taken further to inform the draft Action Plan. The partners formed working groups on the topics sources, production and storage; distribution and networks; smart data platforms, controls and management; consumption to be able to discuss potential actions in greater detail.
In London, Professor Mark Barrat of University College London’s Energy Institute presented ideas for an energy transition. European Investment Bank representative John Sinner gave input on funding sources and programmes for the Energy Transition. Lars Holmquist from Partnership member Gothenburg presented the EU-funded Fossil Fuel District project to the partners.
The Partnership plans to have a draft Action Plan ready in early summer 2018, to be commented by interested stakeholders via a Public Feedback. The next internal Partnership meeting will take place on 2-3 May in Pamplona, Spain.
