Conversation with Mr. Konstantinos Michailidis, DG of Operations, Region of Central Macedonia

This testimonial video provides insights into the challenges and the importance of cooperation across borders in addressing natural disasters, such as floods, by highlighting a project of great significance in the Greek - Bulgarian cross-border area. Border regions between Greece and Bulgaria are historically vulnerable to floods due to the two transboundary river basins of Struma/Strymon and Evros/Maritsa. The video discusses the importance of bilateral cooperation in increasing the resilience of border regions. It marks out "Flood Protection", one of the largest Interreg V-A Greece Bulgaria 2014-2020 strategic projects aiming to improve the resilience of the cross-border area in times of crisis. The project brought together authorities from both sides of the border to provide tangible outputs such as large-scale infrastructure upgrades and increased disaster-handling capacity. The person featured in the video is the Project Manager, Mr Konstantinos Michailidis.
