Effective adaptation planning depends on the ability to track progress, assess results and learn from experience. This event will focus on RAST Step 6 – Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL), a key element of climate adaptation planning and action. The session is open to all members of the Mission Adaptation Community, particularly adaptation teams in regional and local authorities, and will provide practical insights into how monitoring frameworks are developed, tested, and applied across different governance levels.

Participants will gain a clear understanding of MEL concepts from Mission Projects working in Thematic Working Groups, see practical examples from PRO-CLIMATE’s Key Performance Indicator (KPI) framework, and learn directly from regional case studies on evaluating climate impacts and tracking adaptation progress in practice.

The event will combine expert inputs, case studies, and tool demonstrations with opportunities for discussion and peer exchange.

By joining, you will be able to:

  • Build practical knowledge on designing and applying MEL frameworks to strengthen adaptation actions.
  • See concrete examples of how regions, local authorities and projects across Europe are embedding monitoring and learning into their work.
  • Get familiar with tools that can support their own adaptation journeys.
  • Connect with peers facing similar challenges in measuring progress and capturing lessons.

The session will close with an open networking segment, offering a space to build relationships, exchange ideas, and explore collaboration opportunities within the wider Mission Community.
