Update on the implementation of the DG REGIO project on Cross-Border labour markets

The project team (ÖIR GmbH, Hétfa Research Institute, Nordregio and AEBR) has launched 11 case studies investigating cross-border labour markets in various parts of Europe. The aim of the case studies is two-fold:

  • Data-oriented: to explore the specificities of various cross-border labour markets (i.e., current situation, existence of imbalances and trends in terms of employment levels and structures, workers’ age, gender, educational levels, main sectors, etc.) and produce new indicators (based on available data) reflecting the cross-border characters of these labour markets.
  • Policy-oriented: to identify issues related to the labour data and information needs, gaps as well as challenges in such territories, and to provide examples of cross-border labour market policies, types of initiatives, collaboration and governance structures in place.

The map below indicates the location of the selected cross-border labour market case studies.

The case study authors are currently carrying out interviews of relevant stakeholders and drafting the case study reports, which will be publicly available early 2025. Stay tuned for further information on the case studies! In the meantime, should you be interested in any of the cases and/or would like to contribute, please do not hesitate to contact us.
