Thematic Working Groups (TWGs)

Within the EU Mission Adaptation Community of Practice, EU-funded projects working on climate adaptation can participate in dedicated collaboration spaces known as Thematic Working Groups (TWGs).

TWGs bring together Projects from the Mission and beyond to exchange knowledge, identify synergies, and collaborate on shared challenges and opportunities. By working together, projects can strengthen their collective impact and contribute more effectively to the objectives of the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change.

Each TWG focuses on a specific thematic area, with defined priorities, activities, and outputs. Updates, resources, and key deliverables are shared through this space.

Core Thematic Working Groups

The Community currently hosts seven long-term core TWGs focused on topics of strategic relevance to Mission Projects:

1. Citizen and Stakeholder Engagement
2. Climate Services
3. Financing Climate Action
4. Integrating Mitigation and Adaptation
5. Monitoring and Evaluation
6. Transformational Adaptation
7. Climate Adaptation Platforms (CAPs)

These groups provide a structured environment for sustained collaboration, peer learning, and the development of joint activities and outputs.

Additionally, the topic of Nature-based Solutions is covered by the NbS Task Forces of NetworkNaturePLUS. This Network brings together the NbS R&I community and creates opportunities for local, regional, and international cooperation to maximise the impact and spread of NbS. Selected projects funded by the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change working on NbS and other EU-funded NbS projects are invited to join the task forces of NetworkNaturePLUS. 

Ad hoc Thematic Working Groups

In addition to the core TWGs, Mission Projects can participate in Ad hoc TWGs, which are established to address emerging priorities, specific science-policy questions, or time-bound collaboration needs.

New Ad hoc TWGs may be proposed by the Mission Secretariat or by Mission Projects, either individually or as part of a project cluster. This page will be updated as new groups are established, and Community members will be invited to participate through MIP4Adapt communications and Mission Project Assemblies.

• Share updates, resources, and announcements with other members.
