BIG Summer Institutes in Brussels & Call for Expression of Interest (session in French)

Borders are now one of the most politically sensitive and operationally complex areas of European policymaking: from migration and security, to trade, technology, and regulation. Few professional development opportunities are specifically designed for those shaping and scrutinising border policy in practice.

The BIG Summer Institutes are designed to meet that need.

Coming to Brussels for the first time in summer 2026, the Summer Institutes hosted by the Borders in Globalization Research Lab (BIG_Lab) at the University of Victoria will offer a practitioner-oriented program designed for policymakers, senior advisors, and teams working on border-related portfolios.

CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

On the occasion of the Summer Institutes in Brussels, BIG and the MOT (Mission Opérationnelle Transfrontalière), are offering a special opportunity for a session offered entirely in French:

  • 6 key themes: cross-border territory management; law; customs; migration; artificial intelligence; security
  • July 20th 2026 (from 10am to 5pm, with a one hour break)
  • In Brussels (in-person or online)
  • Price: €150

This session in French will only take place if a sufficient number of participants is reached.
