In recent years, Nature-Based Solutions (hereinafter NBS) have been promoted internationally and at the European level as a key approach to addressing the major threats facing society, notably climate change and ecosystem degradation. The Climate Change Adaptation Mission, promoted by the European Commission and signed by the Basque Country, considers NBS as a fundamental element for the systemic transformation towards climate resilience.

While climate change adaptation policies and actions are increasingly being developed and implemented at all levels of governance, it is cities, municipalities, and regions that have the operational framework to implement these types of measures. Among them, the Basque Country stands out as a leading region with a long-standing trajectory in promoting nature-based adaptation. This is exemplified in the publication *'Nature-Based Solutions in the Basque Country: 20 Success Stories for Adapting to Climate Change Using NBS'*, which will be presented during this event.

The event will create a space for reflection on the opportunities that nature offers to address climate risks and will generate synergies between Ihobe and other stakeholders to identify new strategic lines that will enable the Basque Country to advance in climate change adaptation through Nature-Based Solutions. In addition to showcasing the success stories from Basque municipalities—which will focus on analyzing the main barriers encountered in the practical implementation of NBS projects, the measures adopted to overcome these barriers, and the opportunities arising from this new field—there will also be inspiring experiences presented from outside the Basque Country.

Ultimately, the event will highlight the versatility, replicability, and cross-sector applicability of these solutions in addressing climate challenges, as well as their potential to provide environmental, social, and economic co-benefits. It will do so by showcasing and promoting projects and interventions that integrate NBS both within and outside the Basque Country, serving as support and guidance for local and regional decision-makers in their efforts to tackle climate change through nature-based adaptation.

The event is open to any stakeholder or entity interested in these types of solutions, including public administration, local entities, technology centers, architecture firms, consultancies, engineering firms, or NBS installation and maintenance companies, among others.
