Women empowering AI: last request to inform our research and action agenda

Dear members of the Alliance,

This post is a request for your input in our research project on women empowering AI, and the opportunity for AI to empower women. We have launched a survey to understand the existence, nature and extent of implementation of AI policies in organisations in relation to gender. The research will inform  a pledge for action to increase the participation of women in AI and to capitalise on AI’s potential to redress women’s status in society.

The survey is currently in the field but we need your help in increasing our responses.

Our preliminary findings indicate a situation ripe for change and action - 91% of respondents believe that AI will be important to their organisation over the next 5 years, whilst only 2% of respondents believe that their organisation is implementing good practice and measuring its impact as it relates to gender & AI. On the flipside 81% of respondents believe that involving women in developing AI increases the ability of AI services and applications to empower women. The case for change is clear.

My ask is for you to take the survey yourself, and share it with your organisations and networks.  The survey will be closing on 20th September. The survey is anonymous and should not take more than 10 minute to complete.

Thank you in advance for your support, and we look forward to sharing the results of the survey with the Alliance group. Please don’t hesitate to reach out directly to discuss the project further or provide further information.

Warm regards,
