Call for papers open until 28 February 2024 - "Disruptive borderlands. Unpacking the innovative potential of transbordering practices, imaginaries and policies"

Luxembourg Institute of Soci-Economic Research (LISER) organises a three-day conference on 4-6 September 2024 with the title "Disruptive borderlands. Unpacking the innovative potential of transbordering practices, imaginaries and policies".

The overall aim of the conference is to question the capacity stakeholders and citizens of border regions to sustain the dynamics of territorial cooperation and cross-border integration developed over recent decades. Border scholars from all social sciences and humanities as well as practitioners are invited to present their work, reflecting on cross-border practices, imaginaries and policies that have arisen in response to rebordering dynamics within border regions.

As such, a call for papers has been launched until 28 February 2024 on the following subjects:

  • Border regions as spaces of possibilities
  • Borders as resources
  • Rebordering and borderlands resilience
  • Emancipatory potential of transbordering practices and imaginaries
  • Cross-border movements
  • Territorial cooperation, planning and governance
  • Innovative theories and methodologies
  • Transdisciplinary approaches across the social sciences and humanities
  • Dialogue between border scholars and practitioners
