The updated living repository of AI literacy is live, with additional practices and a more interactive layout.
Following the entry into application of this article 4 of the AI Act - which aims to ensure the provision of a sufficient level of AI literacy among the staff of AI systems’ providers and deployers and anyone using the systems on their behalf - the Commission launched a repository of AI literacy practices to support learning and exchange among providers and deployers, as well as the wider public.
Today the repository has a new, multilingual and more interactive shape, and contains more than 40 examples of formal trainings, workshops, awareness raising events, peer-learning initiatives and other innovative practices from businesses and the public sector.

Through the filter you can look for specific practices according to predefined criteria (e.g. type of organisation and type of practice) or type key words in the search bar. By clicking on the practice’s box you will access a dedicated fact page, presenting a brief overview and essential details of the initiative and its organisation.
For an overview of the practices, don’t miss out the summary analysis done in cooperation with the EU-funded project AI Skills Alliance (ARISA) and which examines the current landscape of AI literacy developments.

(And general there are just way too many many initiatives in this narrow area alone)
One aspect I found particularly interesting after reading the ARISA summary report is the apparent relationship between AI literacy and AI adoption maturity.
The report suggests that organisations with more mature AI governance and deployment practices also tend to have more structured AI literacy programmes. While this seems intuitive, it would be fascinating to better understand whether AI literacy is mainly a consequence of AI maturity, or whether investing early in AI literacy actually accelerates responsible AI adoption.
The repository itself is an excellent initiative because it makes concrete practices visible and allows organisations to learn from one another. Over time, it could become very valuable to analyse which literacy approaches are associated with the highest levels of successful AI adoption across different sectors and organisation sizes.
